Mauro Gwerder completed his BSc degree at the University of Bern in Cell biology. He continued his studies with an MSc degree in bioinformatics and computational biology, completing a project in this research group. Using a weakly supervised deep learning approach, he worked on the detection of lymph node metastases in lung cancer. He continued his work within the group and started as a Ph.D. student in 2022. Mauro is currently working with multiplexed immunofluorescence images, focusing on tumor budding in colorectal cancer and their interaction with the tumor microenvironment. He is particularly interested in spatial analysis, image analysis, AI, deep learning, and biostatistics.
